System overview
TheStake is a field positioning and documentation device designed for square excavation units. The device is mounted to one modified anti-rotation stake while three matching corner stakes define the remaining corners.
Controls
Set Points
Projects and records the remaining three corner positions in sequence.
Set Stake
Confirms the current projected point after a stake is placed.
Capture
Records the selected image and/or LiDAR data at the current depth or time interval.
Field sequence
- Install TheStake at the selected reference corner.
- Select 18, 24, or 36 inch grid mode.
- Press Set DTR and verify the project origin in the app.
- Use Set Points and Set Stake to place the other three corner stakes.
- Begin excavation and capture at consistent 10 cm levels.
- Review the image, LiDAR, and metadata log before leaving the unit.
Data storage
When a high-speed microSD card is installed, the device stores project data locally. Without a card, data is transferred to the paired app through Bluetooth. Teams should verify synchronization and maintain a project backup at the end of each field session.
